Goldeneye 007 is confirmed for Nintendo DS

Activision has confirmed that Goldeneye 007 will also be released on the Nintendo DS later this year. Initial rumors were that the game would be released on both the DS and Wii, but at E3 only the Wii was mentioned. Joystiq has confirmed with Activision that Goldeneye 007 would actually be released on the Nintendo DS and that it is not a port, after the Nintendo DS came up in Activision’s quarterly earnings report.

The Goldeneye 007 edition for the DS is being developed by n-Space, which has developed games in the past for Wii, DS and PS2. The word on the street is that the new game will contain actual cut scenes from the original game, such as the tank scene in St. Petersburg.

Pokemon Black and White trailer does not disappoint, shows off many new features

Pokémon fans can rejoice as there is a new 6 minute trailer for Pokémon Black and White. Although it may be in Japanese, you can still see some of the cool new features such as the 3v3 battles and get a feel for the 3D element for the game.

The trailer starts off showing various Pokémon and their information/abilities as well as a cut scene of someone running across a bridge in the background while the foreground depicts various different trainers. You can see various mini games for your Pokémon such as a musical where you can dress them up in costumes and they take turns dancing in the spotlight. If only it included a Pokémon rendition of Les Misérables or The Phantom of the Pikachu. The trailer finishes with a very excited narrator talking about the first ever #000 Pokémon listed in your Pokédex.

What’s in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige and Hardened Editions?

First noted by IGN, online retailer Buy.com had a product listing for Call of Duty: Black Ops Collector’s Editions. Buy.com was listing the Prestige Edition at $149.99 and the Hardened Edition at $79.99 which are the exact same prices from last year’s Hardened and Prestige Editions for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Upon further investigation into these special editions by myself, I have noticed that Buy.com has removed their product listings mentioning anything about Call of Duty: Black Ops other than to allow users to pre-order the normal edition for release on November 9^th. I have found no other listings on the Prestige or Hardened editions from other retailers.

Those prices could just be placeholder prices that we hear about so often when retailers are speculating in order to be the first on the scene to accept pre-orders. However the more important issue is, what will these Collector’s Editions contain? Will anything ever top the working night vision goggles that were included in Modern Warfare 2’s Prestige Edition? What about a paintball gun in the image of a weapon from the game? Would that even be legal?

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep jumping on Special Edition train

Even cute, innocent little Kingdom Hearts is jumping on the “OMG Special Edition!” wagon, as the Playstation EU blog has announced that Europeans will be getting a special edition of upcoming PSP title Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. The edition is said to include two Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep art prints, a 48 page hardcover artwork book, as well as the game itself, obviously. Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is due to release across Europe on September 10th and you can see the special edition’s box art below.

I like the idea of special editions, mostly because whenever I own one I feel special. Awesome, huh? I just don’t like the fact I never seem to get one in time, and I usually don’t have the money for them. If anyone wants to send one to me, feel free!

UPDATED: Nintendo announces when they’ll announce 3DS date and price (not)

UPDATE: Nintendo has responded to this news, telling VG247 that they have not confirmed the date and the Bloomberg Japan report is the product of “Chinese whispers,” whatever that means. Sorry kiddos, but the 3DS price and release date remain unconfirmed.

Try to keep up on this one people. Nintendo told Bloomberg Japan, and now we’re telling you. The date and the price of the handheld glory will be announced on the 29th of September. It had been speculated beforehand that the eagerly awaited 3D handheld was to be released worldwide around March in 2011, and price was thought to be somewhere in the $250 region. But of course, this is all merely hearsay. When we get something solid, something concrete, something ball bustingly exploding, we’ll be sure to let you know. I mean, how awful would we be, keeping information like that to ourselves?

Enigma Stones for Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver available this week

Beginning on July 31, all North American Pokémon fans who own Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver have until August 27 to download an Enigma Stone, according to Kotaku. The Enigma Stone is a key that allows players to unlock Legendary Pokémon Latias and Latios. Latias can be captured in Pokémon HeartGold while her brother can be captured in Pokémon SoulSilver.

First things first, in order to obtain an Enigma Stone players will need access to the Internet. Next in order to use the Enigma Stone, players will have to have beaten the Elite Four, have claimed the National Pokédex, and have two or fewer Wonder Cards. If you haven’t completed all of that you can still download it before August 27^th and then complete the rest of the prerequisites at a later date. How thick is your Pokédex right now? I know mine is enlarged…

King of PopCap, Plants vs. Zombies, under siege from the King of Pop

iPhone users downloading the most recent update to Plants vs. Zombies will notice the sudden and tragic absence of a staple game character. The dancing zombie, known primarily for his exquisite gyrations and secondarily for his uncanny resemblance to a certain recently deceased music icon, has been removed permanently from the game as a result of a threat of legal action from the Michael Jackson estate, according to MTV’s Multiplayer Blog.

PopCap, not wanting to risk an actual lawsuit that could tarnish the name of their obscenely popular game, conceded and changed the character to a disco themed version instead of the Thriller-esque one-gloved zombie we all knew and loved. The dancing zombie will be missed dearly. Shame upon the Jackson Family lawyers for going after what amounts to more of an homage to MJ than a parody.

As a courtesy, we’d also like to note that iPhone 4 users thinking of updating to the new version of the game should refrain, as the updated version has been crashing systems on the iPhone 4 only. Only those updating from older versions are affected, people wishing to purchase the new version are fine.

I choose you, Victini: The first ever Pokemon #000 in your pokedex

ZOMG there is finally a Pokémon #000 in your Pokédex for the first time. This new legendary Pokémon, named Victini, will be available for the upcoming Pokémon Black and White games according to Andriasang. Just look at Victini, isn’t it cute giving us the peace sign?

Now that your interests have been peaked you may be wondering what the catch is on acquiring this legendary Pokemon. In order to acquire Victini you must obtain a Liberty Ticket that will be given out from the Japan launch date of September 18^th until October 18^th at any retail Nintendo Zone or DS Station kiosks in Japan.

There has been no information yet if Victini will be available on the North American version which won’t be available until spring 2011. I would imagine if Vicinti is available, you could just go to your local GameStop or wherever you purchase Black or White from and pick up a Liberty Ticket upon release.

You’re going to update your PlayStation 3 Firmware whether you like it or not

Hey! Update your PlayStation 3 Firmware now or I’ll sock you right in the Jack Johnson! That’s right, Sony isn’t really going to give you much say in the matter, as they announced today that Firmware update 3.41 is coming soon and you better check yourself before you riggity wreck yourself. And by check yourself, I mean update your system kindly, sir.

The Firmware update will deliver a new “You May Like” section to the right-hand side of the Store, making it easier to find ways to hand Sony more money. That is always a plus, because lord knows we’ve all got a ton to hand out… Amirite?

In all seriousness, you’re going to have to update either way, so let me also tell you that “You May Like” to know that the PSP update (v6.31) is also planned to hit soon. The update also includes technology that knows you’d like to give Sony more of your money, so it directly garnishes your paychecks and sends Sony 32 percent. Thanks, Sony!

Howdy, undead pardner – Cowboys vs. Zombies hits mobile devices this week

Why so long in the gaunt face, pardner? Oh, you’re a fracking zombie! Oh, sorry! Don’t mind my, Shakespeare Meets Left 4 Dead at the OK Corral rendition of Hamlet. With more crossovers hitting gamers in the next year than a bundle of sticks, it is good to know we don’t have to wait long for our next dose. This Tuesday, July 27, developer Tall Chair will rope some dopes on the Apple front with their Cowboys vs. Zombies crossover for the iPhone, Ipod Touch and iPad.

The game is your typical tower defense genre game, but you’ve got some immensely popular counterparts dueling it out. Once the game is on Apple’s Store, it will be available for a one-day price of $.99. There isn’t much you can get in this world for a buck, short of a crap burger or a smack in the mouth, so if you’re itching to blast some Zed words or cowboys, you might as well pick it up.

If you’re in the San Fran area on July 29, you can even check out the devs having a launch party, where you can ask questions, get some hands-on experience with the game and rake in some gamer goodies just for being in attendance. So let me ask you, are you more excited about Plants vs. Zombies 2 or Cowboys vs. Zombies?
