TERA could be shut down due to theft allegations from NCsoft
What happens when a few employees leave one company to start their own? Well, apparently theft. NCsoft filed a lawsuit against Bluehole Studio Inc., the makers of TERA, that entails trade secrets were stolen and unfair competition is to be had according to a report by MMO Culture. NCsoft goes on to claim that while a similar suit was filed against Bluehole for the release of TERA in Korea, their new suit filed on January 13th is determined to go after them again for the March North American launch of TERA.
The complaint goes on to allege that “[The former employees] made off with copious amounts of confidential and proprietary NCsoft information, computer software, hardware and artwork relating to Lineage 3.” Lineage 3 was the game that some of the dudes from NCsoft were working on before they had left a couple years previous. The suit is asking for compensation in damages and temporary/permanent delays to the English language release of the game. Folks over at the forums are not happy with this turn of events, but they’re keeping their head up.
