NHL Slapshot hits stores today, poke-checks your fun spot
After our recent weekend of non-stop NHL Slapshot playing at PAX Prime, I thought I’d take a minute to remind you all that the game hits store shelves today for the Wii. If you are looking for a family friendly hockey title that features tons of mini-games, as well as a solid be-a-pro and career mode, then look no further. NHL 11, also by EA Sports, drops today, but only one title features a mini hockey stick for a peripheral. If you’re a hockey fan, pick up both titles. If you’re only in the market for one hockey game this year though, I’d suggest NHL Slapshot, as you won’t find another game that you can have more shaking a stick at!
For a brief synopsis, Wayne Gretzky endorses it. I endorse it. Fellow editor Jake endorses it. What more could you want? Oh, a real synopsis? How about split-screen shootouts, over five mini-games, 3 on 3, 5 on 5, NHL, Minor League, Peewee and Bantam games? You can even play as the legendary #99 for any super fans out there, as well as have the option to grow your pro from a wee lad all the way up to an NHL scoring master.
Having the stick peripheral only makes the game better, as you’re getting a minor workout, as well as the ability to truly put that slapshot, or wrister, in the back of the net. Nothing like putting the biscuit in the basket, then rubbing it in at your friend’s expense. You’ll be screaming GOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL in no time! Grab your copy for Wii now!
