Kinect will work while seated…sometimes
There were initial reports from E3 that worried people that Microsoft’s Kinect wouldn’t work with gamers sitting down. Finally a Microsoft representative has cleared that up in a discussion with 1Up. Kinect will in fact work with seated gamers….but only when the game or app is expecting you to be sitting on a couch, such as with the upcoming ESPN and Video Kinect apps. That being said, Microsoft’s representative went on to say that Kinect games are being created with the idea of getting people off of their couches.
So far we have seen the River Race game part of the Kinect Adventures where it requires players to physically jump and move around. Can you jump while seated? I didn’t think so. Unless you have a third leg growing out of your ass, in which case you should probably take up soccer instead.
It all means that for the majority of the functions, unless specifically designed for laziness such as watching a movie, you better be standing up and moving around while playing the Kinect. Take that Wii users who are too lazy to stand to play Wii sports!
