Assassin’s Creed going on break after Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
With Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood being the end of Ezio’s story, according to Ubisoft Montreal’s Jean-Francois Boivin, he’s also clarifying that there won’t “be an Assassin’s Creed in 2011. I think we’re going to let it breathe a bit and really focus on bringing something new and exciting for the next time around.” Boivin speculates that the next game would be released in 2012 or 2013, according to Eurogamer.
What this means to me, is that they are worried that the franchise may go stale and they want to give both players and developers a break. That works in two ways, it allows for players to desire a new game being developed instead of waiting for the next yearly installment. It also allows Ubisoft to work on a new game during the break to allow them to brainstorm some fresh ideas for an AC game. That way there would be a ton of hype for a new installment that could potentially be better than ever.
This could also be a ploy that they don’t want to rush out the next game yet, because they want to see how well the Microsoft’s Kinect and Sony Move work, to possibly see if they want to incorporate it into the next game or not.
We still have a while to go for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which is set to be released on November 16th. Waiting until 2012 shouldn’t be too bad for the next installment is it? Oh wait, it probably is…
