Failed dietary puddings star in Portal 2 demos part 6 and 7
At long last, parts 6 and 7 of the Portal 2 E3 demo are here. It took under a week for Valve to share and demonstrate seven new features for the game. These last two trailers show off the new “’Gel’ technologies, Propulsion and Repulsion.”
Part 6 demonstrates to us how the Repulsion Gel works. It was originally designed as a dietetic pudding, but it was noticed that when it was eaten, it would bounce off of the subject’s stomach and back out through their mouth. The Repulsion Gel works in game by allowing you to bounce off of the gel to reach new heights. Check out the trailer below showing a few tricks on how to properly use the Repulsion Gel.
Part 7 shows off another failed dietary food, the Propulsion Gel. It was designed to be eaten as a pudding that would lubricate your digestion tracts so that whatever you ate next would speed through your body quickly to reduce the calories absorbed from it. This too became a failed experiment that found its usefulness later on. The gel gets spewed out of a pipe and can be controlled through quick thinking portals to coat specific areas. When you run across the gel, it allows you to move much quicker, enabling you to run through potentially closing walls, possibly with giant spikes. The trailer is below for your viewing pleasure; make sure to watch it until the end as there is a spoiler that I don’t want to ruin.
