Fable III welcomes back episodic format, first one free!

Fable III will be released in an episodic format in addition to its full retail release according to Kotaku. What does that mean you ask? After the full retail version is out in stores on October 26th, you will be able to download and play Fable III in episodes.

The first one will actually be free but then after that each one will cost between $2 and $5. If you like the game so much you will always have the option of purchasing the rest of the game later on. That’s not a bad deal, especially if you don’t want to drop 60 bones for it upfront. The first episode will be an hour’s worth of gameplay and should (hopefully) be long enough to hook gamers. This might not be an opportunity for parents to limit their child’s time spent playing the game making them play it episode by episode.

How do you feel about having the option of buying the game per episode? Did anyone play Fable II this way? Not having the actual CD and case just doesn’t seem right.
