Red Faction Armageddon prequel hitting XBLA/PSN with a large martian hammer

THQ announced during an interview with CVG that they will be bridging the gap between Red Faction: Guerilla and it’s planned console sequel, Armageddon, with a red faction themed arcade game released to the XBLA/PSN. According to THQ VP of Publishing Danny Bilson, releasing arcade games based around their various properties is a new strategy and we should expect to see similar games coming with titles such as Saint’s Row. THQ hopes these titles and games will, “drive up preorders” and they look forward to “giving the whole thing away.” Here’s hoping.

These seem like interesting ideas and I’d be interesting in playing them, on one condition. They must not suck. If THQ thinks they can shovel out a few crappy side-scrollers and we’ll eat them up, they’d be dead wrong. Otherwise this is a brilliant idea.
