MMOMFC: Stick it in your port-hole

The console wars are a funny thing. Do Microsoft and Sony ever get tired of playing for second place? And now with specific developers and publishers throwing their weight around, things are getting even more interesting. It’s like the beginning of Gangs of New York when all the separate immigrant gangs come to back the Dead Rabbits in their war against the Natives (Bill Gates the Butcher?). WHO WILL REIGN SUPREME?? Does anyone really care? Neither company is going anywhere, and if one does bite the dust (See: Seeegaaaaaaaaaaaaaa), another will rise to take its place. The only people who should care about the console war are the people who work at Microsoft or Sony.

I don’t get the ballyhoo about Valve announcing at Sony’s E3 conference that Portal 2 will look best on the PS3. That’s like saying one pair of white socks is slightly softer than another pair of white socks. If you slip one of each on your feet, you’re bound to notice the difference, but when you’ve been sitting at a desk all day reading the internet when you should be working, do you really care? They’re both soft. It’s what socks do.

And once again, Nintendo swoops in and nukes the joint. Oh hey, that almost looks kinda like real life, nice work guys. Have you seen our game? It looks like a living painting.
