(Update) Valve completes Orange Box experience for Mac with Team Fortress 2

Valve Mac

After having a tagged release date of “Coming Soon” since Wednesday of last week, Team Fortress 2 is finally busting down the walls and coming to a Mac near you today in all its class-based multiplayer glory. The release comes one day later than Steam’s typical Wednesday launch date of new Mac releases, but considering this is far and away the best multiplayer game yet to be released on Steam for Mac, a single days delay can’t hurt too much. It appears my plans for Thirsty Thursday just got a bit more animated than I was originally anticipating, though I will most likely still be drinking away my sorrows from that disappointing end to the Stanley Cup Finals last night.

Team Fortress 2 is currently listed at $19.99 by itself, or you can now purchase the whole of Orange Box for a non too shabby price of $29.99. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some sort of discounted tag price pop up during the course of the day considering the promotions Valve has been running on all its previous Mac releases. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed with you, and we will bring you an updated price should one occur.

Update: Right on cue, TF2 is currently 50% off, meaning right now you can get all that heavy multiplayer action for only $9.99! Buy now before June 14th and you will also receive a pair of in-game white iPod ear-buds for one of your characters so he can listen to non-existant music! Curious about what the dealio is with this game mac fans? Well, all weekend you can play for free, and then undoubtedly reach for your wallet without even realizing it to buy the full game.
