(Update) PlayStation Network down for extended twelve hour maintenance

*UPDATE 5:10pm CDT: A new Tweet from Sony just informed people that maintenance is still going on, but a number of players have been able to get online. Are you one of the lucky ones? Let us know!

Hey fatslappers, in case you were planning to get on the PlayStation Network today, or the PSN as all the cool kids call it, you should note it is going down soon. During the upcoming downtime, you may experience difficulties logging in, and you won’t have access to the PlayStation Store or Account Management for 12 hours! Holy spanks! 12 flipping hours!

This is due to an extended maintenance period lasting from 8am Pacific to 8:30pm Pacific. As noted on the PlayStation blog, Sony apologizes for the delays, but they are likely trying to improve your end user experience. My only concern is whether I can login and play Joe Danger when I get home from work later today. If you haven’t purchased Joe Danger yet, you should immediately before the downtime!

    As someone else noted above, they could have done this during off peak hours. Sony has joined the scheduling of the average road construction projects. God forbid they work at night.
