Valve to heal all wounds with a Source Engine 2 announcement?

Valve

Ok, it’s no Half-Life 2: Episode 3, but an updated Source Engine is nothing to scoff at. Valve’s CPU friendly Source Engine is by no means dated, but it’s not exactly state-of-the art either. With games like Crysis 2 showcasing the potential powerhouse that is CryEngine 3 at this year’s E3, the Source engine is going to start looking fairly drab.

The Source Engine is six years old this month, and debuted in the form of Counter-Strike: Source and, shortly after, the groundbreaking Half-Life 2. A complete graphical update and a new game, possibly Half-Life 3, would be a lovely E3 surprise indeed. Right now, anything to put salve in the gaping tear-drenched wound left by the lack of an Episode 3 related announcement.

Keep in mind, everything from now until the day of E3 is speculation.  Unless, of course, a certain Mr. Newell decides to come out and tell us what diabolical trick he’s planning. On that note, we’ll reiterate our past article on this subject: Please Mr. Newell, no Left 4 Dead 3.
