Price Set for What Was Formerly Known as Project Natal?
Leaked information by a “trusted source” to Edge Online has mentioned a price and release time frame for “Project Natal.” According to the source, it will be available in October, a whole month earlier then the previously thought date, and that it would cost $149. Hey Microsoft, what happened to it being cheap enough that it would be an impulse buy?
Not too long ago a few Swedish retailers had set a pre-order price of $200 and Microsoft responded by stating that that price was pure speculation. It wasn’t too far off if the $149 price is true, back in November it was believed that it would cost less than $80. Maybe these are all rumors created by Microsoft on purpose just to generate hype. The trusted source also mentioned that “Project Natal” is only a code name and that its real name would be released during E3 in a few weeks. If you have any ideas or suggestions on what the real name would be, please comment below.
I still have a hard time believing that it will cost $149 when Sony’s motion project Move is rumored to cost less than $100 packaged with a game and the camera. How will Microsoft compete with Sony if their competing motion controller/device will cost two-thirds of whatever “Project Natal’s” new name is and comes packaged with a game, especially when games alone can cost $60?
