Join the Club: Rockstar unveils Red Dead Redemption Social Club

If Red Dead Redemption didn’t already have a million reasons to get you excited about its May 18 release date, here is one more from Rockstar Games. Today, Rockstar Games has revealed the Social Club features for Red Dead Redemption, which will become available upon the game’s launch. Red Dead Redemption will deliver all new challenges and perks solely for Social Club members, as they will integrate seamlessly into regular play for both single-player and multiplayer modes.

There are a number of ways to join the extremely popular Rockstar Games Social Club, which has received much acclaim with numerous other Rockstar titles, including Grand Theft Auto IV. You can link your Xbox Live, PSN or Windows Live accounts, as well as accessing registration menus in-game. Below are highlights that Red Dead Redemption Social Club members will gain access to:

Social Club Challenges: Right off the bat, members who complete special challenges, such as the “Justice in Pike’s Basin” mission will unlock the “Pike’s Basin Challenge”, which is one of many challenges headed Social Club members’ way. Completing the challenge will get your name on the leaderboard with your time and medals gained during the mission, which can then unlock the “Guns Blazing” cheat, allowing single-player usage of flaming bullets, which can set enemies on fire. There are plenty more challenges planned after the game’s release.

Rockstar Challenges: Numerous community-based challenges will test team work and unlock surprise rewards for each who take place in the challenge. Coming in late May, “The Strike It Rich! Rockstar Challenge” will put players together to haul in as much cash as possible during the event’s time frame to reach the grand bank total and unlock a mystery prize for each who assisted. Gamers will also be able to track the community’s progress, and gain tips on how to reach the ultimate goal.

The Blackwater Ledger: Rockstar will provide daily news updates from New Austin, Nuevo Pariaso and West Elizabeth locales, highlighting the highest bounties, most popular products at the local merchants and how many have cheated at poker during those days. There is much, much more to come as well in terms of Ledger news.

My Stats: The amount of statistics that are going to be stored for Social Club members for Red Dead Redemption is going to be nuts. This will be your way to share your in-game progress and your way to show your bragging rights. My Stats will handle both single-player and multiplayer mission data and more. You can also keep it private and set up friend-only leaderboards amongst your posse and friends.

Multiplayer Leaderboards: The leaderboards will keep track of nearly every stat you could think of. World’s best rattlesnake skinner or best co-op pair out there? Show the world! Keep track of how you compare to the rest of the world, or just amongst your friends.

Achievements & Trophies: This will be where you can share all of your achievements and trophies (depending on your system of choice) with your friends and compare with other Social Club users in a user-friendly format.

Official Red Dead Redemption Social Club Multiplayer Events: Beginning Friday, May 21, on PSN from 4-7pm EST and Saturday, May 22, on Xbox Live from 1-4pm EST, Social Club members can play with, or against, Rockstar employees worldwide.
