Lost Planet 2 and Skate 3 join a month too expensive for most

As one of the largest months for gaming title releases in years, May 2010 will provide us with an absolute stockpile of games that could last us well into the new year. The sad fact that gamers are having to strategically pick and choose which titles are most worthy of their bucks has led to some rather stressful nights deciding what is worth picking up this week, next or holding off until a used copy or a loaner from a friend becomes available. This is where the week of May 10 comes into question. Do I want to throw down 60 bones for Lost Planet 2 or Skate 3? As a gaming site writer, as well as an avid fan of games, I had to question whether I could honestly chock up the money for either title. Luckily, I’ve been able to procure a copy of Skate 3 through Game Fly, but Lost Planet 2 did not ship.

Based on my enjoyment of the multiplayer aspects of the demo and an eventual play through of Lost Planet 1, I am at a loss for whether I simply bite the bullet and purchase the game, or hold off for Game Fly to come through, but don’t have a timely review of the title (if one at all). From the looks of things, I’ll be prepping myself for a Skate 3 review once it arrives, but will just have to back-burner Lost Planet 2 until later in 2010. Unfortunate, because I’ve really been looking forward to the game, but as a hard working person who can only afford a few titles a month, if deemed worthy, then I just can’t justify the month of May.

Let’s give a brief rundown of titles that are or will be available this month: Alan Wake, Blur, Lost Planet 2, ModNation Racers, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Red Dead Redemption, Skate 3, Split/Second, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Trauma Team and UFC Undisputed 2010. I have left many off the list too, so I must ask you this question: Who has that kind of money? Last month alone, I dropped $200+ on gaming including Monster Hunter Tri and 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, along with a few others. My wallet is in a permanent recession.
