Gray Wardens quiver as Darkspawn rule in latest Dragon Age DLC

dragonagelogoskinny

Outed as a rumor just yesterday, confirmed today: your next DLC add-on pack for Dragon Age: Origins will be “Darkspawn Chronicles.” This add-on will present an alternative history of Ferelden, a branching narrative in which your original character never makes it past the joining and you are tasked with commanding the Darkspawn in the battle for Denerim.

That’s right my fantasy-fan friends, BioWare is about to turn your Dragon Age world upside down. Here’s what we know so far: you will play as Darkspawn in the battle for Denerim and the add-on will launch this month. Ya, that’s really about it. Here’s what the DA:O site has to say:

You now fight as the Darkspawn! The city of Denerim, jewel of Ferelden, girds itself for war. As a hurlock vanguard, you alone hold the power to make thralls of your fellow darkspawn and drive them into the heat of battle. Heed the archdemon’s call–Denerim must burn!

A look at an alternate history: what if your character had died in the Joining ceremony, and the Grey Wardens marched under Alistair’s command instead?
A standalone adventure in which you command genlocks, hurlocks, shrieks, and even the mighty ogres.
Complete the module and unlock an epic Darkspawn item in DA:O and Awakening.

Sounds like there could be some strategy elements at play, similar to the original Dragon Age’s final battle. BioWare is promising a video trailer later today, so perhaps that will give us some more info. For now though, peep a gallery of three screenshots from Darkspawn Chronicles below.

Are you excited at the chance to return to Ferelden as a member of the Darkspawn horde? I certainly am. I think I’ll kill Leliana first – never liked that goody-two-shoes. What about you, which of your former party members will you target first as your horde rampages through the streets of Denerim?
