Phoenix Burns Up Rock Band and Guitar Hero

Rock Band and Guitar Hero get a bit more indie this week with the availability of three tracks from French alt-rockers Phoenix. Singles “Lisztomania” and “1901,” off of their latest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, and 2006′s “Everything is Everything” are available for about two bucks a pop: 160 points on Xbox 360, $1.99 for the PS3, and 200 points via Wii.

The last rock ‘n roll infusion to Rock Band also represented a panel of indie greatness. That was a hot batch of Coheed & Cambria, Supergrass, The Violent Femmes, and Siouxsie & The Banshees and it dropped not even a week ago. For me though, Phoenix is the ace of the group; Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix may have filled my headphones more than any other album last year.

While I’m a much bigger fan of Phoenix than I am of Rock Band or Guitar Hero, the next time I find myself at a social function where one of these games is prevalent I’ll definitely be asking if they’ve got these songs in their library.
