Xbox Live, MS points Also Experiencing Technical Issues

Reports are coming in that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is not the only issue going on around Xbox Live today. Players have also been having issues purchasing Microsoft Points and redeeming prepaid cards to access MP’s. A little birdie reported to us that a local Target had trouble just loading money on pre-paid cards today, and after about twenty or so tries they finally had success. However, he was not able to redeem his card when he got home later in the day.

In my heart of hearts I hope this issue is not connected to some overload due to fans out there rushing out to download the new Stimulus Package released today, but I fear this may be the case. Xbox Live Support is running the following details:

Users may experience difficulties with the following services:

Creating new Xbox LIVE accounts, managing those accounts, or recovering an account on a different console

Buying downloadable items from the Xbox 360 console, Xbox.com, or Games for Windows – LIVE

Paying for downloadable items with a credit card

Signing into Games for Windows – LIVE on a PC

Redeeming downloadable items with Microsoft Points, buying additional Microsoft Points, or viewing your points balance

Using prepaid cards or codes for downloadable items or Xbox LIVE subscriptions

Purchase transactions using the Games for Windows LIVE client.

We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

Let us know if you are experiencing any problems, and we’ll bring you an update as to what the fark is going on with your MS points as soon as one pops up.

    Purchased at card at the local walmart it activated just fine get it home…well live says this card has not been activated contact retailer. Went back to walmart everything is fine on their side. 18004MYXBOX has a generic we know there is a problem redeeming points try again later message, but they wont let you through to support to inquire. Wish i had known I would have just put the money in the bank and used my CC to purchase the new map pack. Yet another example of MS screwing the pooch…

    Walmart told me that the cards they are having problems with are the ones with the modern warfare 2 graphics on them, they told me they’ve had several complaints. I bought one from a different walmart, let’s hope it works!

    @Lawrence: Don’t Fret, I am trying to find the source but have been told that if you get this message you have not lost your money. As soon as I come across a hard source I will post an update.

    i just bought mine at walmart tonight as well, doesnt have mw2 graphics on it, just a reg 1600 point card…hadnt heard any of this new at that point..had same messsage when i got home and tried activating..went back to store and was told same as the others…this sux i was rdy 2 up in it!

    Bought my MW2 Graphics MS points @ Best Buy… Same problem and they mentioned that Microsoft has contacted Best Buy and has warned them of the issue… hopefully it is just a temporary issue due to MW2 Stimulus Maps coming out…

    I bought a point card but I don’t get the it’s not activated I get an invalid code message…soooo retarded can’t believe this crap so now we play the waiting game and hope all works out

    yah..so don’t buy them..the problem is bigger than what their telling everyone. system crash is what i found out. i can’t get my map as of RIGHT NOW…tried it about a dozen times..i hope they fix this..quick..
