Skate 3 or Die in a Fire

With Tony Hawk’s Ride having one too many asphalt cocktails (epic fail), someone has to step in to fill your virtual skating needs, and who better than the brofessionals over at Black Box. The Skate franchise already revitalized a once stagnant genre and seems to be up to the task once more. In a recent Press Release Jason DeLong issued the following: “For us, SKATE 3 is the culmination of this endeavor – the most connected, accessible and social skateboarding experience yet.” More and more games are focusing on social interactions and the importance of the community to provide a lasting gaming experience and Skate 3 is busting out some new tricks, literally.

Skate 3 is paving the way by allowing gamers to build their Skate team both on and offline and then shred it out over various challenges and competitive battles. Skate 3 will also feature a new and improved Skate.Park editor that will provide all you creative spirits out there the tools to build your own virtual dream park. Even better is the ability to then take that park to the online streets where you and your friends can rip it up. Skate 3 is taking great strides to ensure their players have the most “immersive and connected” skating experience to date, short of actually visiting your local skate park and interacting with real people. Still, this new direction and emphasis should allow for lasting play value and offers a unique alternative to DLC packages.

Look for Skate 3 to thrash onto your Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 May 11 (NA) and May 14 (UK- if you are a fancy pants).
