Kane & Lynch 2, already balding, now dated

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days has been officially dated for release on August 24th in North America and August 27th in Europe. The sequel to 2007′s Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Dog Days will take place in Shanghai and switch perspectives, putting players in control of Lynch as opposed to the first game’s Kane. Also new today is the first video clip of actual gameplay footage.

You can see the clip below; but first, ponder this. How do you measure realism in a game series? Do you measure realism visually, by realistic graphics, or perhaps on a more thematic level, by a realistic storyline? I ask because Kane & Lynch makes me think my answer to the question might be continuity. Continuity, something striven for on movie sets, isn’t always top of mind when thinking about a gaming series or franchise. Thankfully, it is for the creators of the Kane & Lynch series – look how Lynch has accurately aged since the original game, fattening up and losing his hair. Just like in real life! It doesn’t get much more realistic than that.
