Gears of War 3 slated for April 2011?

It’s rumor Tuesday, and in a week with already exciting releases it might be hard to muster up even more enthusiasm, but let’s give it a shot, shall we? Undoubtedly, all you Gear Heads have been feeling left out of the news with not even a whisper issuing from Epic or Gears of War poster child Cliff Bleszinski (a.k.a Cliffy B) regarding the highly anticipated 3^rd installment in the franchise. Your time may be coming.

As a reluctant Gear Head myself, I have been patiently trying to track down any news regarding Gears of War 3. IGN is reporting  “A ‘trusted US publishing source’ has told website Edge the third chapter in the Gears of War series is set for release in April 2011.” Microsoft and Epic are far too busy to comment on rumors and speculation, but an unnamed trusted publishing source is just as good, right? Of course it is. I was hoping to see some glimmer of a teaser at this year’s GDC, but no dice. That leaves me putting all my chips in on E3 to bring us some official word for Gears of War 3. Either way, might not be a bad idea to start cleaning and greasing those chainsaws. I have a feeling as soon as word breaks the hype is going to come at you faster than a Brumak on speed.
