Green Day Rock Band to sell out June 8

Green Day: Rock Band, expected since a video clip leaked in December, was officially dated today, now set to be released on June 8. MTV and Harmonix’ latest rhythm game will be available on all three console platforms: at about $60 on XBox 360 and the PS3, with a $50 price tag on the Wii version. In addition, 360 and PS3 owners can throw in $10 extra for the Plus edition, which includes all Green Day DLC tracks as well as the ability to migrate the entire soundtrack to the original Rock Band.

Part of me is glad that this game will introduce Green Day’s older catalog, the Basket Cases and When I Come Arounds, to an entirely new generation who were too young to pay attention when they first arrived.  That’s the part of me still trying to forget the album American Idiot ever existed.

Beyond the official release date, a video teaser has been dropped as well.  Check the clip out below, but don’t bother hoping for the option to lock out some tracks, however convenient that would be.
