Bad Company 2 VIP map pack also delivers a “cure”

It looks like EA has entered into the business of trash-talking as today’s blog over at EA takes a stab at Infinity Ward’s cure for “mapathy”. Today bears witness to the second VIP map pack announcement from EA slated for March 30, coincidentally the same date IW will release their map pack for Modern Warfare 2 (and also the day of my birth). Big day, no?

What does this VIP map pack entail, you might ask? Well, as rumored yesterday through our post on BC2 paid DLC, two current maps are getting Conquest and Rush mode updates:

Arica Harbor Conquest mode – US Command launches a break through action directly at the Russian base. Collateral damage is of no consequence. Capture and secure tactical positions in Conquest Mode across the vast Arica Harbor map.

Laguna Presa Rush mode – The valley and surrounding mountains possess a strategic value in the battle for South America, and an infantry assault supported by light armor vehicles is likely by both armies as US forces defend the nearby Dam.

Not entirely 100% new maps, but the fact that EA is already adding content to Bad Company 2 shows signs of good faith for a less than stellar launch, and their commitment to keep Infinity Ward and MW2 in check when they can. They even state in the blog post today that they players aren’t going to get “nickle-and-dimed” by EA similar to the industry standard and what current competition is doing for DLC. That is a welcome bonus.

The package your copy of Battlefield Bad Company 2 came in contains your VIP code, so be sure to enter it on March 30 for the new maps. PC users will get the maps for free as well, without the need of a VIP code. Let the competition for best FPS continue! Bring on the free stuff, bring on the noise!
