Hello PlayStation Network, my old friend
As of roughly 6:00 p.m. (CST) today, the PlayStation 3 nightmare was reportedly fixed. Sony issued an official statement explaining that the problem was caused by an error in the internal clock, leading to thousands (and possibly millions) of systems left in disarray. The PS3 8001050F error had gamers stuck without the ability to play a number of trophy-enabled titles and practically shut down the entire PlayStation Network. Luckily, if you hadn’t turned your on your PlayStation within the last 24 hours, you wouldn’t have been affected, but for those of you who did, we feel your pain.
In a recent blog post by Sony, they described how non Slim PS3s were recognizing 2010 as a leap year, causing a whole cluster-fudge. If users are still dealing with incorrect times or dates being displayed, they can manually adjust their system settings. Now that the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network are back in working order, life is good again. Do tell us how much your day sucked without the PS3 enchanting and bedazzling your spirits. Did your system get locked down or were you smooth sailing, trophy-collectin’ all day? Based on what system you owned, you may have been one of the many unfortunate souls out there left with just your controller in your hand. As a recent owner of a PS3 slim, I did not run into the 8001050F error. Lucky me, I guess.
