AvP sales cue talk of a sequel
It seems that whenever a new game sells well, one of the first topics discussed is the possibility of a sequel. Such is the case with Aliens vs. Predator, which launched just one week ago.
Sales of the title have been good. Except in the UK, where sales have been massive. AvP is now the fastest selling game of the young year on the tiny island, bringing down the short lived reign of BioShock 2. Rebellion Developments, the studio who developed the game, are rightly ecstatic about their game’s success in their homeland.
Speaking to Develop, Rebellion co-founder and CEO Jason Kingsley said “We’re delighted to see the game shoot to the top of the UK charts. We wanted Aliens Versus Predator to be a critical success as well as a commercial success, which we think we have achieved.”
While the commercial success is great to hear, I’m currently more focused on the absolute blast I’ve been having with the game’s multiplayer component. Good thing Rebellion has the time to ponder such lofty ideas as a sequel: “We’re also in discussions with Sega about ongoing support for AvP, and also about a sequel to the game,” Kingsley noted. “I won’t say what stage those negotiations are in, but we would love to revisit the franchise. Fox are excited about what we’re doing, and we feel we’ve added value to the franchise.”
Added you have, sir, added you have. Now, if you won’t mind adding to my arsenal of killing moves, I’ve got some fresh ideas on how to extract the spine and head from the human body.
