NBA Jam making its way to the big leagues?

Destructoid is reporting a rumor that NBA Jam may be one step closer to blazing across your screen in HD glory. While a new and improved NBA Jam was originally confirmed as a Wii exclusive release, it now appears that EA Canada may have a surprise hidden up their sleeve with the rumor that NBA Jam will also be scoring big on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. If proven true and the game sinks all three consoles, the news itself would be a perfect metaphor to one of the game’s most recognizable monikers: EA IS ON FIRE!

Details are still scarce on what exactly the new release will encompass.  Should players expect an entirely new game, or a re-vamping of perhaps one of the most well known classics (similar to the upcoming Perfect Dark release for Xbox Live)? All officials are saying at this point is that the upcoming release will revive the classic franchise and incorporate several new (non-specific) features. One thing for sure is that fans of the popular arcade classic will be in flames of excitement when the official announcement goes public one way or the other.
