Not so fast Heavy Rain pre-order DLC, says GameStop

Heavy Rain US Art

Just when you thought you’d be learning the back stories of our four protagonists on day one of Heavy Rain’s release, GameStop has pulled the rug out from under you. You won’t be getting your prologue on, or controlling the Origami Killer, until a week after the launch date here in the States. GameStop has updated their site explaining, “due to a delay by the publisher, this content will not be available for download until Thursday, March 4, 2010.” The site, amongst many others, will be offering the DLC as a pre-order bonus for reserving your copy of Heavy Rain early.

Sony confirmed the DLC will still be available day of release for you lucky, lucky Europeans. I guess I won’t feel bad now if the Origami Killer gets one of you next week. If this is Sony’s way to make me want to solve crimes instead of commit them, they’re sadly mistaken. I guess I’ll start a small string of crimes in my community involving public intoxication, illegal karate kicks, shooting off fireworks and gambling on potato sack races at a family reunion. Catch me if you can, suckers sleuths!
