Pre-orders now being taken for Creative’s World of Warcraft headsets
If you’re in WoW rehab, look away now! Creative Labs’ previously announced World of Warcraft branded headsets have just been made available to pre-order. Is there a date yet? Not so much, but at least you know you’ll get one, right? From Creative’s own links to the online stores that are making the pre-orders available, it looks like there will be two different price points, a wired model sitting at $119.99 and a wireless model at $159.99, very reasonable considering the value packed into the sets.
For simplicity I’m just going to give the stats on the wireless model, seeing as the only difference between the two is well, a wire (which the wireless technically still has, if you’re charging it). As the nerdy proud owner of the Steel Series World of Warcraft mouse, I have to say the design is very impressive, showcasing a … how do the French say it? SEXINESS! The headset is sporting THX TruStudio Virtual Surround Sound over 2.4 Ghz Wireless technology, which is uncompressed by the way.
What else could be better you say? Well, how about customization? This headset has it all. The ear cups actually light up and have lenses that you can swap out (two are included, Alliance YAY, and Horde BOO), and not only do they just light up, but you can change them to your choice of 16 million different colors with the included software shown below.
The feature that caught my attention, however, was something they are (generically) calling VoiceFX. VoiceFX, in short, allows you to manipulate your voice as heard by other players (if only it was real life) into sounding like in-game WoW characters and creatures, WOW… pun [lamely] intended. They haven’t given the full list but generic voice-overs from hot Dwarves Night Elves and even the demonic Felguard have been mentioned!
Want more? Well, here’s what comes in the box:
Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Wireless Headset with detachable microphone, and built-in volume, mic mute / pairing and power buttons on ear cup.
USB Wireless Transmitter
Travel Pouch
USB Type A plug to mini-USB plug cable (for charging purpose)
Quick Start Booklet
2 sets of interchangeable headset lenses (1 pair of Horde symbols & 1 pair of Alliance symbols)
Online software installation with user (loser*) guide
Now that you’re slobbering here are a few shots to keep you chomping at the bit for Creative’s slick new headsets.
*Who uses these guides? Honestly?
