Windows 7 mobile featuring Xbox Live this Holiday

It might seem a long time away, but starting this holiday season all phones with the Windows 7 mobile o/s (ATT, Verizon, HTC, Samsung ) will be able to log onto Xbox Live, CEO Steve Balmer announced today.

You’ll be able to see your character and gamerscore, see and add users to your friends list, access spotlight feeds, and even collect achievements.

It’s been a long time coming but it finally looks like Microsoft will be able to offer Live capabilites to handhelds. Just how much people will use it, remains to be seen.  For instance, how exactly will one be able to collect achievements on their phone? Perhaps Windows 7 mobile gaming that ties directly into your Xbox Live account? It is clear however, that Xbox Live is crossing into a whole new medium of entertainment. Expect more news as details are slowly leaked out.
