Valve just issued the latest update for Left 4 Dead 2, the zombie FPS that dreams and nightmares are made of. Finally, players controlling the zombie side will notice the much needed AI support of zombie bots to fill in those last key spaces if a team isn’t full.  Special Infected bots will fill the vacant team spots, leveling the playing field between survivors versus horde.

The new patch is available now on Steam and headed to Xbox 360 owners in an “upcoming title update”. Fixes include improved survivor bot AI, selectable spawn during finales, numerous map updates and a handful of bugs being removed.

The only potentially negative side-effect of this patch is the reduced melee damage to Tanks. They’ve lowered melee damage to Tanks from 10% of max health to 5%,  making it only half as effective. Xbox 360 users better get their Tank Burger achievements in before the patch. There are a number of other minor updates to the patch as well, so head on over to Steam’s site for all of the details.
