EA Sports FIFA Online Free for PC; Beta En Route
EA Sports has just released information on a new, free to play football game for the PC aptly titled EA Sports FIFA Online. The new title is to be moving into its first phase of closed beta on February 3rd. What’s unique about this game, though? Well, I’m glad you asked!
Like most betas, there will be a request to gamers for their feedback, but this time it’s a little different. The feedback itself will be shaping the outcome of the features included. As Executive Producer Kaz Makita announced, “Fans will determine the features that matter most, and at the end of this process, our goal is to deliver a game for fans looking for a quick football fix at home or at work.”
The controls will be a simple mouse driven action system, as it appears in the pictures perhaps as simple as clicking and dragging, details weren’t given. The game is looking to be about mid-range on system specs, so this will be hitting a majority of the casual PC gamers out there, which will give it a good pool to draw ideas from.
Registration for the first phase begins on February 3rd here, with room for 20,000 to join. The first phase will include a World Cup South Africa Tournament Mode, while a second phase is scheduled to add a league mode to manage and compete with your clubs, as well as an online match mode.
Open beta for the title is scheduled for June 2010, much in the same sense as Battlefield Heroes, (without the glitches I would assume) but it will make a seamless transition between its beta and completed version that very month in the UK. The North American release is scheduled to follow in the 12-24 months after the UK release.
Features for the game will include 30 licensed leagues, 500 clubs, more than 15,000 players, and the ability to acquire players and upgrade their skills. Also, an in-game store will be available to trade in “coins” they earn in game for apparel that will boost player stats, and even micro-transactions for those who are rich impatient.
I know Dustin is already slobbering all over this and honestly the game has even piqued my interest. Keep an eye out on the site mentioned above and we will see you on there!
