Rockstar’s Red Dead Referendum Gives Gamers the Power to Vote

Red Dead Redemption

Breaking out of the proverbial box, Rockstar Games is giving gamers the power to vote on which one out of three in-game preorder unlockables they’d like to receive. This option is being given on Gamestop’s website, with three available options for outfits and their inherent abilities:

  • The Savvy Merchant – buy guns and ammunition from any gunsmith for half the cost
  • The Deadly Assassin – regenerate your “Dead Eye” targeting feature twice as fast
  • The Expert Hunter – receive double skins and hides when you kill an animal

Each vote will also serve as an entry into a contest to win a trip to the Grand Canyon Railway or a daily $100 gift card to Gamestop. Each visitor is allotted one vote per day so make sure you start today.

This is a great example of creative marketing from Rockstar and GameStop.  Getting the community involved this far out from launch isn’t easy but dangling a couple $100 gift cards like carrots in front of a horse will help.

Voting ends on February 15th and Red Dead Redemption hits store shelves April 27.  I’m pretty sure my vote is going to the Deadly Assassin, what will you vote for?
