God of War III and Metro 2033 to share birthday, launch dates confirmed
Two titles have today confirmed launch dates of March 16: PS3 exclusive blockbuster God of War III and Russian post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033.
While the heavily anticipated God of War III has been rumored to hit on this date, official word came from the Official PlayStation Blog today. The post also lifted the lid on details around the game’s limited edition box set. Also hitting stores shelves on March 16, the God of War III Ultimate Edition will include additional in game content as well as collectible figures. Which brings up a question that’s been nagging me for a while – why do so many special editions come with action figures dolls?
Metro 2033, a gritty FPS based on a Dmitry Glukhovsky novel that I kinda want to read, will hit store shelves on the same date. Taking place in the Moscow underground subway system, humanity’s last refuge, Metro 2033 will deliver a special edition of sorts too. Hitting the XBox 360 and PC on March 16, the shooter will have it’s own special edition. Expect limited editions to include in-game weapons and “four art cards.” We’re not sure exactly what “art cards” are, but we do know they’re not dolls.
Obviously, one of these titles is a bit bigger than the other. The God of War series has already sold enough copies that you could stack em all the way up to the top of Mount Olympus, if you know where it is. But Metro 2033 is straight intriguing, especially if it can communicate the dystopian analysis of Russian society as does the novel from which it spawns.
But enough big words, which will you be picking up first?
