MMOMFGames of the Week – January 25

Welcome to this week’s installation of the MMOMFGames of the Week for January 25. Luckily, this week is full of solid titles including Mass Effect 2, Braid for the PC, MAG for PS3 and two nice titles for the Wii, Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. We’ve even got another Sleeper Pick of the Week, which is sure to engulf, eclipse and stimulate your tickle spots. Erotic? Nay! Engrossing? Yay! Technotronic? Good band! Without any further adieu, let’s pump up the jam, pump it up!

Sherpard Thane Tali

Mass Effect 2 (PC/Xbox 360)

If you don’t know what this game is or why you need to own it, then you are a turd-jerkin. We’re really considering reporting you to the local authorities if you don’t have this pre-ordered yet. I’ll go ahead and ruin it for you though. Space ships, aliens, robots, blaster-rifles and plot twists. There, you’ve just experienced the 2010 Game of the Year!

MAG

MAG (PS3)

The PS3 exclusive FPS plots military corporations in struggle during a time of government peace. The game is unique in the fact that 256 players will be able to be online and playing at the same time on massive servers. My only quip to this is, great, now 255 people will appear above my name in the statistics for kills/death ratio. I hope the PS3 has a quick scroll down feature for viewing this list, as I will undoubtedly suck at MAG as much as I do at MW2. Selecting one of three military factions gripped in a hail of gunfire will hopefully entice PS3ers to try out MAG rather than sticking with current FPS-titles on the market. Don’t forget Bad Company 2 is coming out soon!

Braid

Braid

No, this game is not about Stevie Wonder’s hair or how to tie it like that! It is the 2D beauty that saw a huge response on the Xbox Live rejuvenating the puzzle/platformer genre in 2009. With limited PC titles coming out this week, if you haven’t picked up Braid yet for XBox, do yourself a favor and test this game out. For a price tag of under $20, you can’t go wrong.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars (Wii)

Another stellar fighting game lined up from Capcom, TvC:UAS, will have you tugging at your joystiq faster than you can say Hidoken (or Kit-Kat-Karyuken). With a lineup of over 20 fighters including classics like Ken, Ryu and E. Honda and the Tatsunoko lineup of Ken the Eagle, Viewtiful Joe, Mega Man and Steve Harvey, TvC doesn’t hold out on the goods due to being solely on the Wii. Modes like Two-man-tag team and an arsenal of moves shape this up to be the top fighting game of early 2010.

No More Heroes 2

No More Heroes 2: I’m All Out of Heroing, I’m So Lost Without You! (Wii)

That isn’t actually the title, but I was under the impression that the first time around there weren’t any heroes, but now there are apparently even less heroes due to the title. 2 Many Heroes would have been a more appropriate name. If I’ve read the previews correctly on this title, it is where you purchase a Japanese love pillow, ala James Franco in 30 Rock, and make it your next girlfriend. Disclaimer: The box was really small and I had been drinking. However, the disk smells like pickles fresh after opening the box.

Sleeper Pick of the Week (Nintendo DS)

You’ve waited for it, you’ve desired it and now you’re going to get it! Why? Because I’m giving it to you free of charge! When I used to run a pyramid scheme site where I tricked people into investing into my research company, Blogosaurus Rex, I would gain the trust of wealthy individuals seeking the secret to long life and fertility. In the end, I just told them my Sleeper Pick of the Week and they were generally amused, but often upset to the point that we wouldn’t speak for weeks at a time. Looking back now, I wish I hadn’t accepted personal checks. So I guess what I’m trying say is, here is the Sleeper Pick of the Week:

Party Planner

Imagine: Party Planner is a title where you, the fresh-faced new girl, gets to plan parties for your clients by listening to their needs and supplying exactly what they’re into: Whips, Chains, Yo-Yos, Whistles, Robots, Caribou? If you can think of what would make for a good party pin the tail on the stripper, then you can plan it! Featured as a highlight from the game, you can watch the party as it happens. First off, that is creepy. No one wants the party planner there. Also, if the party planner was at the actual party, who do you think is the first person who is going to call the cops? The planner.

You are able to unlock rewards like counterfeit checks, illegal drug paraphinelia and possibly even roid-enhanced advances by the freshly cut NFL free agent. Hey, every party planner has to start somewhere!
