MMOMFGames of the Week – January 4, 2010

Welcome back from the holidays! We here at MMOMFG are ready rock this new year like a group of young Ben Savages. This week is the first of the new year, so there has got to be some sweet games coming out right? Yes! This week we’ve got angels cast down from Heaven, a gun slinging sex-witch, a conveniently named game based on a Saturday afternoon shopping trip (if there is enough time) and our always fun Sleeper Pick of the Week. We’ll save that for later.

Darksiders

Darksiders – As War, the First Horseman of the Apocalypse, you must face the charges of prematurely bringing an end to Earth after being tricked by the forces of evil. Having been cast out from Heaven and stripped of all your powers, you will seek out those responsible for your demise. Being a target of both Heaven and Hell, War must defend himself from wrathful angels and undying waves of demon souls. Scouring the remains of a once prosperous Earth, you will unveil a conspiracy that could shake the core of Earth, Heaven and Hell. This title looks hot and a definite buy this week on either the PS3 or Xbox 360!

Bayonetta

Bayonetta – We’ve already covered the demo impressions here on MMOMFG, so we’re looking forward to playing this shoot-em-up this week on either the PS3 or Xbox 360. Playing as a gun twisting witch that moonlights as a sexual mistress, Bayonetta should appeal to the little man inside all of us (or at least the little man in your pants). The title will feature Devil May Cry style in a classic guns blazing action. The action is over the top and to be taken tongue-in-cheek. Everyone should have a good time playing Bayonetta and we’ll be picking it up for sure.

Matt Hazard

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond - With possibly the funniest names in a while, one can only hope this game at least takes the gameplay seriously. The games industry is full of niche titles with goofy gimmicks and cute names, but we’re hoping this side-scrolling 2D shooter can compete with industry pros like Shadow Complex. If the game is just tossed on the screen with glitz and glamor, but no real content, then Mr. Hazard might have problems on his bloody hands. We’ll download the title later this week and hopefully let you know our impressions.

Sleeper Pick of the Week - You probably thought I’d puss out this week and take the easy road by selecting the silly Fast Food Panic or My Fitness Coach 2: Flabs of Veal, but you’d be wrong. This week’s Sleeper Pick of the Week is Dreamer: Zoo Keeper! Have you ever wanted to command an army of monkeys trained to rip the arms from your zoo’s visitors? Dreamed of guiding a line of tourists into the lion pit thinking they are on the way to the penguin exhibit? Think elephants are neat? Well technically, I don’t really know if any of these things are capable of this title, but I’m willing to work in-house for a game company as a consultant for these types of gaming ideas. I mean Zoo Simulator 2k10. It doesn’t get better than that. Good week of gaming all-in-all!
