Valve puts control of Left 4 Dead 2 in the hands of the users
For a holiday gift this season, Valve has unleashed control into the hands of the community to do what they will with Left 4 Dead 2. Valve was in the giving spirits offering gamers and developers alike access to the free Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools and L4D2 Add-On Support this week. With the ability to develop unique campaigns and new maps for use in Co-op, Versus, Scavenge and Survival, players should have plenty to cheer about this holiday season.
The SDK tools are of course only available to PC users, so t0 get your grubby little hands on these tools, go ahead and load up Steam. The tools are relatively small in size, but are full of magical goodness. These tools were also shipped out the door much faster than last year’s SDK Tools for L4D1, so we’re pretty excited.
Now, hopefully I can make my level of zombie robots flying around in jetpacks in a level made entirely of trampoline flooring. Not your ideal level or campaign? Let us know what you’d like to make if you had/have any developing/authoring skills. Either way, you can create and play your own maps and campaigns or try out another’ gamer’s inventions!
Happy holidays!

I've already played some good custom content – added weapons, 5+ person gameplay. Adds some depth to an already great game. However, I'm sure there's going to be heaps of crap out there – for every good experience a half dozen awful.
