PSN Premium Subscription Survey Leaked, $20-$60 a year?

According to a source who claims he took this Sony survey, PSN is looking into what features their gamers would put down some dough down on. This “Premium” plan has a lot of features Xbox Live is currently sporting, but it also has quite a few that had me wishing Xbox’s service would adopt!

Among the ones that stood out is a “member demo sharing” feature, where you choose a section of a game you own to share with one of your friends to download and play. Another is “token wagering” at the beginning of a certain time period, whether at the beginning of the week or month, you are given a certain amount of tokens to wager with your fellow gamers. At the end of that period, you can trade the tokens in for free games/themes/etc.

The best feature I saw noted was online store discounts, no, not wimpy 10% discounts. We’re talking 20-50% off discounts. Nice!

However, the worst by far was something I know every PS3 user will hate; Cross-game chat. Now, I’m an advocate for talking cross-game, but I’m not an advocate for paying for something that should be incorporated in a modern-day gaming system.

Here is the full list of rumored features listed on the survey:

  • Customer Service Priority Access
  • Exclusive Experiences with Sony Brands
  • Extended Console Warranty 3 Years
  • Access to Beta Games
  • Early Access to All Store Content
  • Member Demo Sharing of Full Game
  • Cross-game Voice Chat Access
  • Full Title Trial – 1st Hour Is Free
  • Token Wagering
  • User-to-user Challenges
  • Free Access to PSOne Classics, PSP Minis, and PS3/PSP Themes
  • Discounts on Store Content
  • Member Only In-game Content
  • Trophy Alerts
  • Cloud Storage Space for Games
  • Online Music Service
  • Online Music Video Service
  • Automatic Downloads and Updates
  • Loyalty Program Rewards
  • Facebook Connectivity
  • Catch-up TV
  • Netflix Access Without Disc

I’ll pay for it while 360 has less feature then this and I am paying for that shit. Well if Sony put this feature iam sold. 60 dollar per year is nothing to all these feature.

It was done by a website not Sony get your facts first. Sony will never charge for cross chat.

I believe he had his facts. He just reported a survey had been conducted. It says Sony survey, because the survey involves a Sony product. It doesn't not say the survey was conducted by Sony. All in all, it is stipulation and rumors.

Most surveys are conducted by third party vendors, it doesn't mean Sony didn't hire them though.
The survey doesn't mean Sony will charge for anything (or everything), but it is a good basis to find out what they COULD charge for (if you're willing to shell out the cash).

    :/

Sony charging for features that are currently free, like access to beta games, automatic downloads and updates, facebook (why anyone would want that old school stuff social networking is beyond me at this point), trophy alerts… and then the "awesome" offer of being spammed by sony marketing with "Exclusive Experience with Sony brands", wtf is that meant to mean? And you'd have to pay Sony on top of Netflix to get Netflix disc free, which is meant to happen anyway, I bet Netflix are overjoyed… I'll stick with the disc.

Maybe if they were to say dramatically improve PSN connectivity it might be worth it… provided everyone else playing the game you're playing also experienced dramatically improved connectivity with lower pings and les lag. But as the fact that PSN is free is one of the major selling points of the PS3 over the 360 then that's not going to happen so there would be no benefit there.
