Nintendo today releasd a litany of new downloadable DSIWare, WiiWare, and Virtual Console titles.  The headliners of this update include the Nintendo 64′s Super Smash Bros as well as the original arcade version of Ninja Gaiden.

New WiiWare titles released today include Eco Shooter, Plant 530, TV Show King 2, Pallurikio, and Happy Holidays Christmas.  What’s that?  500 Wii points for a game that lets you create and send Christmas cards to your friends Wii’s?  Holy crap, what a waste of money.  The DSIWare titles that round out the list include Dragon’s Lair, Hot and Cold: a 3D Hidden Object Adventure, High Stakes: Texas Hold’Em, myNotebook: Green, and UNO.  That’s right, UNO, the card game.

Aside from the more…nonsensical titles present in this update, Smash Bros and Ninja Gaiden are great editions.  As a teenager I spent countless hours feuding with my friends over intense matches of Super Smash Bros. free-for-all.  THat game remains one of my favorite of all time, and I still refuse to recognize the existence of the sequel, Super Smash Bros Brawl.  Brawl overcomplicated things, stripping the franchise of an ass-kicking innocence that, in my opinion, made the original one of the best N64 cartridges ever produced.
