True Crime delves into the seedy underworld of Hong Kong

Activision has issued a press release today with further details on True Crime, exclusively revealed at the Spike TV Video Game Awards over the weekend. Having completely rehauled the game engine and design from the ground up, developers United Front Games place gamers as an undercover thug in the Triad crime organization. Inspired by Asian cinema themes, True Crime will feature the look, feel and play of a Hong Kong action flick (read: Hard Boiled). As the lead character, Wei Shin, gamers take the role of a detective infiltrating one of the world’s most notorious crime syndicates in hopes to bring it down from the inside.
The game is slated for release in Fall 2010, but after checking out the below trailer, we can’t wait to try it out. Hot action, beautiful Hong Kong scenery (read: Asian women) and high speed bike/car chases place this title as a definite “must see” for 2010. The game is slated for release on the PC, PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 game platforms. What are your thoughts about True Crime?
Below are some of the highlights from the press release:
- As a newly hired thug within the Triad organization, Wei must do whatever it takes to stay undetected and survive, balancing his moral duty as a cop with the objectives of the assignment. In order to ascend the ranks of the underworld gamers will engage in visceral, fast-paced martial arts combat and explosive gunfights, along with high-octane driving sequences and acrobatic free-running chases as they go deeper and deeper undercover.
- Set in Hong Kong, True Crime takes gamers through diverse neighborhoods, ranging from the high class Central HK to the bustling fish markets of Aberdeen and beyond in a wide variety of story missions and sandbox activities. The game also introduces handfuls of intriguing characters for gamers to interact with as they navigate through a truly unique and dangerous city.
