PS3 Exclusive from hell – Dante’s Inferno Divine Edition

I don’t own a PS3.  I’m an XBox guy and leave the PS3 titles to Dustin and Justin.  However, there are certain games and franchises that give me that itch to go out and pick up Sony’s console.  Uncharted 2 is one of those games, and now EA seems hellbent on making me itch feverishly over Dante’s Inferno.

While it’s not a PS3 exclusive title, EA is apparently throwing their full weight behind the PS3 version of their upcoming demonic hack n’ slash.  First was early access to the demo – available now on the PS3 but not until 12/24 on Xbox 36o and PC. Now comes word that PS3 owners will get an exclusive special edition – Dante’s Inferno, the Divine Edition. The feature list of this edition reads like a loaded DVD – you get developer commentaries, a book of concept art by famed sci-fi/fantasy painter Wayne Barlow, a digital copy of Dante Allighieri’s complete work, and a copy of the game’s soundtrack.

Now that’s what I’d call content-rich.  But here’s what really grinds my gears – this isn’t some $70 or $80 special edition; this is the standard $60 PS3 title. For the same amount, the Xbox version will consist only of the game.  Apparently, my original sin was buying an XBox 360 instead of a PS3.

Here’s what EA had to say about it, from Jonathan Knight, Executive Producer for Dante’s Inferno:

“We are thrilled to offer an exclusive game pack for PlayStation 3 gamers. The PlayStation platform has a long history of delivering AAA action/adventure games. Adding Dante’s Inferno to that rich catalogue is very exciting for the team. And with the demo now available on the PlayStation Network, players can finally get a taste of what awaits them in the full game on Feb 9th.”
