L4D2 mod details leaked, infects imaginations

Details on the capabilities of the soon-to-be-released Software Development Kit for Valve Software’s Left 4 Dead 2 have been unearthed by L4Dmods.com. According to their intel, the SDK will allow modders to craft new character models and weapons, new surviors and new infected. In related news, the imaginations of modders everywhere just clicked on.
We’ll let the guys who scored the scoop tell it:
By the looks off it, custom models are now supported and very much a reality now! And that includes survivors, special infected, common infected and weapons. Not only that, it seems the weapon functionality can also be edited. So what does this all mean? Well it means mappers can have custom survivors, special/common infected and entirely new weapons unique to just their campaigns (i.e map side modifications, NOT server side)! The L4D modding scene just got a little more interesting boys and girls. Keep your eyes peeled and just think of all the custom content to come in the near future.
Creative modders will be having a field day with this SDK and the possibilities are nearly endless. How sweet would fending off the zombie hoard as a knight weilding a sword?! This makes me seriously consider partitioning my MacBook’s hard drive, installing an instance of Windows, and picking up the PC version of L4D2.
The question remains as to when the dev kit will be made public. It’s already been delayed once, so the release date is pretty much up in the air.
