Square Enix Unveils Final Fantasy XIII Box Art

As we inch closer and closer to a Japanese release date of December 17, Square Enix keeps hitting us with bits and bobs around Final Fantasy XIII.  Today, the company has lifted the covers on the highly anticipated RPG’s box art.

FFXIII’s cover has gone the simple route, showing only the game’s logo and main character against a white back drop.  The game’s female protagonist, Lightning, is pictured wielding her weapon, a cross between gun and sword called Blaze Edge. To me, it looks less like a gunblade and more like a futuristic tool for repairing hovercrafts or something.

Peep the box art for both the PS3 and XBOX 360 below. Back at E3, when Square Enix announced FFXIII would be coming to XBOX, I went catatonic for just a little bit.  If you saw that presser and thought “I’ll believe it when I see it,” then here’s your proof:
