MMOMFGames of the Week – November 30
Welcome back for another MMOMFGames of the Week for the week of November 30. After all of the holiday festivities and time off, you’re likely wondering what the week ahead has in store in terms of quality games. Well, that’s where this column comes in handy. I’ll flag the key titles for the week and also highlight our Sleeper Pick of the Week. The last month or two of gaming has been anything but boring and we’re hoping December has plenty more excitement in store. Let’s get on with the games!

MX vs ATV: Reflex is the next dirt track racing title from developer THQ and Rainbow Studios. This comes from a long line of ATV and dirt bike games from the seasoned developer of racing games. The title features a new ‘reflex’ control system that should add to the realism of riding and put gamers literally behind the wheel or handlebars. The sound has undergone a complete overhaul and fixed the ‘broken’ sounds of engines and track sounds from the previous iteration: Untamed. The multiplayer has also been updated offering enhanced performance online, increased players per track and use of specific online tracks. There are rumors of plenty of DLC content and support for content after the release. Racers, riders and gamers alike should get excited for this title and look forward to Tuesday for MX vs ATV: Reflex. MX vs ATX: Reflex will be available on the Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360.

Rogue Warrior is the latest IP from Bethesda Software featuring a ‘real American bad ass’ Richard “Demo Dick” Marcinko in the latest First Person Shooter, which is based on the bestselling book. The backdrop of North Korea being the setting for this action packed title, Dick is slated for a deep single player campaign and several multiplayer modes. ‘Demo Dick’ is voiced by the Academy Award-winning Mickey Rourke, so expect a plethora of quoted ‘bad assery’. The main feature of interest is the brutal kill usage, offering players an arsenal of 25 brutal kill moves to finish off your adversaries. Rogue Warrior will be available on the PC, PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360.

Having had editor Andrew bashed for his post on James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game, we wanted to clarify that this game will not feature the same story line as the movie. Sorry Andrew, I had to mention that again, ha! Anywho, the title will feature over 20 specific battle skill sets for each clan, the ability to drive or ride all vehicles and animals, and join the battle with either the RDA or Na’vi. In addition, gamers can take the battle online and utilize over 60 unique weapons. Should be an interesting title and I’m hoping that Avatar: The Game can break the mold of movie games living up to the movie’s standards. The title will be available on PC, PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 on Tuesday. The game will be available on PSP on Tuesday, December 8.

Now on to the best portion of the article, our Sleeper Pick of the Week. Alvin & the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel for the Wii looks to be one of the hottest Wii titles of the year. Gamers get the ability to play as their favorite Chipmunk or Chipette while filling concert stadiums around the world. Players can play the instruments with their Wiimotes, DS stylus or Wii Nunchuk. The game features all the songs from their current album and their Grammy Award winning album. The Wii version of the game allows for players to play concerts across 25 venues and 11 venues on the DS. Some additional exciting additions to the game include multiplayer online play, multiple difficulty settings and the ability to set attendance records. If you’re a fan of the Chipmunks or like making music videos involving Chipmunks, then this is the title for you. Actually, this looks like a hunk of crap and I hate that every week the Wii puts out tripe like this game. Damn you Nintendo.
