Splatterhouse screens are a bloody mess

After a year long delay and a change in developers, Splatterhouse news arises in the form of new screens for the sequel to the nostalgic title from the days of yore. Many people are questioning a 21st century rendition of the arcade and Turbografx hit, including myself. I’m just not sold that this title is necessary (or one I’ll even try with new IPs like Dante’s Inferno and Darksiders slated for 2010), but hopefully developers Namco Bandai can pull together something fresh in Q3 2010 with Splatterhouse.
Slated to be another gorey beat-em-up title, much like the original, Splatterhouse may just be the simple minded game you need in the fall of 2010. I’d just like to state that in the screens shown below, I think the new Terror Mask looks pretty terrible and he needs to quit sagging and pull up those damn pants!
What do you think about the next generation Splatterhouse? Does this title intrigue you at all or is it another ho-hummer that will likely be on the bargain section wall soon enough? Tell us your thoughts.

Bloody indeed. I never played the first one though : ( I heard it was pretty gory too, I was one of the children at the time which had parents that were overly protective and wouldn't let me think about murder/blood. (Yet I was somehow able to convince them to let me get Mortal Kombat.)
