Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta bumped to next year for PC

Thanks to early beta testing on the PS3, Electronic Arts has explained that the current testing has been so popular that the PC beta testing will haveĀ  to be held off until 2010. Granted, that may only be a month or so away, but PC gamers are wanting their fix of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as soon as humanly possible.

On the EA site, Gordon Van Dyke sets the record straight stating, “I’ll get right to it and say ‘the BFBC2 PC Beta is not cancelled’. Now this all started due to changes made to an earlier blog that removed the PC Beta from the details and the reason for this was the plan changed. With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta’s capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate. Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.”

PC gamers should be looking forward to getting their hands on the PC beta in early 2010, because the max players per map are increased to 32 from the consoles’ 24, Full DirectX 9, 10 and 11 support, dedicated servers and private guild servers, and EA’s PC Squad Play System. There is a lot to look forward to in 2010 and now EA and DICE have dropped one more post-holiday treat to look for in your stocking (if you’re like me and leave it up until King’s Day).

Theofficial release of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is slated for the title to hit shelves on March 2, 2010. Also, for all the worrywarts out there freaking out over the PC beta possibly getting canceled, I quote Dr. Dre, “just chill to til the next episode.”

  1. Pablo Said,

Sigh, another title getting pushed back on the PC. I guess it's the age of the console again.

  2. Dustin Said,

It is disappointing. Hopefully, the PC beta will make up for some of the delay once it is available and then the actual game will be kick arse.

  3. Sean N Said,

This is 1000% BS – i've bought 10+ BF game licenses and having to wait even more is ridiculous – ITS BEEN MANY YEARS SINCE ANY UPDATE TO 2142 or BF2 – we are PC gamers and believe me, in time, you will pay for not putting enough money into avoiding delay after delay after delay. I know the new CEO loves quality – and rightly so.. recent games have been utter crap, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give us loyal BF customers what we G*D D*M want! I will do everything I can do develop games that bring EA down in the future due to these insults and time wasting with experiments such as BF Heroes and console trash such as Army of 2. I will enjoy the new game once it's out, but I'll never forget the horrendous amount of time wasting that's gone on here.

  4. Dustin Said,

That does suck. I own all the systems, but personally for me, I choose all my shooters to be on PC. I'd have liked to see the beta for this to come out the same time as the PS3. Sean, hopefully EA can get their act together and make it up to the PC gamer.

  6. Justin Said,

It's coming in 2010 if we are to believe DICE and EA.
