What MMOMFG will be playing over the Thanksgiving break

HappyThanksgiving

First and foremost, we’d like to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving! Everyone here at MMOMFG truly appreciates your support and visits and we’d like to extend our best wishes to you and yours. With that said, it is time that we get down to the brass tacks, nuts and bolts of Thanksgiving break: gaming. We’ve gone on and on about everything we’ve been playing lately but finally, we’ll have a few extra days off to knock out some serious gaming.

Due to travels and family time, there won’t be a massive amount of content on the site the second half of this week. However, while we’re out, we wanted to give you a taste of what our gaming plates will be loaded with and want to know what you’ll be playing. I’ll start us off.

What will Dustin be playing?

FIFA 10 – I’ve already put over 50 hours of gameplay into this title, but I’m still trying to make my Virtual Pro, Pigman, to be the best in the world. I’m in my fourth season of Be-A-Pro and plan to take home the championship with Lyon this time, having previously won their respective leagues with Notts County, Fulham and Machester United (/puke, I’m Arsenal irl). If I play my cards right, I can help guide the Fark City Farkers back to winning ways, as the MMOMFG Pro Club Championship team may be the worst in history. We are currently 1-0-8 in record and the one win was a fluke. Fark City will rise up one day and the times of losing streaks will be long forgotten.

Torchlight - Thanks to our very faithful reader/commenter Comrade_Anon, I was introduced to this hidden gem. Despite winning awards at E3 this year, the title completely fell off my radar. After hours of dungeoning behind me last night, I realized how well a relatively indie title can hold up if it sticks to the mechanics that made the dungeoning genre popular (read: Diablo/2 and Dungeon Keeper). Torchlight is a graphically beautiful title that hints of Diablo 3-esque graphics well before D3 even hits shelves. If you want a fun game that is inexpensive, $20, then do yourself a favor and buy a copy of the game.

Assassin’s Creed 2I have spent countless hours playing as my near and dear friend Ezio and the ending of the game is nowhere in site. Assassin’s Creed 2 being one of the most full titles I’ve played in years, I’m very excited to dedicate plenty of time running through the rooftops of Venice and Florence into the wee hours of the night. Andrew continues to tell me why this is his game of the year and the more time I invest, I can’t really argue any of his points. Bless you Ubisoft for delivering a game that will likely extend playtime into the Christmas break for me.

What will Justin be playing??

FIFA 10- Not to be redundant but I haven’t played nearly as much Fifa as Dustin has and I doubt I ever will. The pure enjoyment I get playing Fifa can be summed up in 2 words:  online play. I don’t play a whole lot of Be a Pro but Dustin, Andrew and I, have had some very fun (albeit lopsided) matches playing on our club. Win or lose we’ve managed to really enjoy it. Hopefully a tradition of Thanksgiving turkey followed by some good old fashion football (not the US kind) will be created today and passed down to our kids many years later.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Even though the campaign is done there’s still plenty of zombie killing in me to go around. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing versus against some strangers or grabbing a few friends to survive the horde for as long as possible.  Nothing says Thanksgiving like zombin out with a few friends with a few cold ones right beside you.

Assassin’s Creed 2- I’m Italian, so to say that AC2 hits me on all the right areas is an understatement. I’m probably only half way through and plan on unlocking everything possible. Andrew can’t stop singing this games praises so I can’t wait to get in and continue Ezio’s story. Double hidden blades = pure win and even my fiance enjoys the free running aspect. It doesn’t get much better than this

Modern Warfare 2I haven’t even touched Special Ops yet and it’s been the one game mode I’ve been looking forward to. Hopefully a few friends will hop online (I think most of my friends are online playing this 90% of the time) and I’ll choose one to endure these missions. The single player was quick but quite delectable and the multiplayer is just as good as the first (minus the annoying prepubescent teens) so hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze this in if I have time.

Dragon Age - You already know how much I love it but I still can’t get enough of it. Since Bioware was kind enough to put 1,000,000 hours of gameplay I’m sure I’ll find even more to do. From what Dustin has told me, being a mage is awesome so I can’t wait to jump in and give it a try.

What will Andrew be playing?

Assassin’s Creed 2I’m about a seal and a hand full of codecs away from some serious rewards.  I’ve upgraded Monteriggioni fully and transformed it into a bright and prosperous town.  The game continues to impress me the more I play it and I can’t help but recommend it to people as my game of the year.

Dragon Age I haven’t put nearly enough time into Dragon Age: Origins, namely because Assassin’s Creed 2 came out so soon after. Once I’ve fully collected all of Ezio’s goodies I’m going to put some much needed time into this unfairly neglected RPG.  Friends are on their second play through already, checking out different races and origin stories, yet I may be half way through my first run.

BorderlandsUnlike the other games I’ll bring home with me, I’m not driven to revisit the story of Borderlands.  It’s the sheer promise of new and destructive weapons that sings to me like a siren.  Any game that supplies you with a new and more badass guns every 5 or 10 minutes is a keeper.

Well, we hope you enjoyed reading the lineup of titles laid out for us over the holiday break. Now the real question is directed to you: What will you be playing? Let us know why and for how long. If there are any titles that we should be playing, tell us why and we may change up our plans a bit. Thanks again for visiting our site and happy holidays!

I will be playing COD MW2 at night and will be getting in a heavy dose of Madden 10 since Thanksgiving has a lot of football going on and I like to pre-play some of the NFL games before they happen live. No matter what game is on the console, there will be lots of gravy, turkey and stuffing in me. Happy Gaming everyone! Keep up the great reviews.

Andrew – Did you get the expansion pack that's out for Borderlands?

BTW – If any of you all decided to pop your heads up on xbox live, my gamertag is "Slipgate Master", I usually play MW2 every night 10pm EST or later. Sometimes I get on early : )
