Left 4 Dead 2

Have you been getting frustrated with matchmaking in Left 4 Dead 2 for the PC? Well, Valve delivered the needed remedy this weekend. The first patch for the PC version of L4D2 addresses numerous issues that left the game a bit imbalanced upon release. If you get on Steam, the patch will automatically update, giving gamers better matchmaking, performance and fixes including the Charger disconnect issue that plagued users for the first week of playing.

Valve did a good job releasing a fairly full title within a year of L4D and it looks positive that fixes are already being addressed, as the scrutiny of this title is high among many gamers out there, readers of this site included. As hints of a Midnight Riders DLC is expected soon, Valve will continue to keep the game balanced with frequent updates to ensure gaming is at its highest quality for their biggest title of the year.

Below are the rest of the PC version fixes in the first patch straight from Steam’s mouth to your eyes:

Left 4 Dead 2

  • Fixed performance problem when rendering lots of decals, notably when fighting tanks with shotguns
  • Fixed rcon response not working on Linux dedicated servers
  • Fixed matchmaking problem matching into Advanced and Expert games
  • Fix bug that would cause other specials to try to pummel a player a Charger disconnects or reconnects
  • Fixed versus mode results panel being cut off in transition stats screen in non-english
  • Found games: fixed non-player entries drawing the wrong type of icon in the selected item name label
  • Game mode selector on main menu now takes keyboard input
