RE5_DLC

Updates Below

It looks like the DLC that’s coming to Resident Evil 5 is more than I originally assumed and even quicker than I anticipated. The only real question remains is how much Capcom will charge for it. Those willing to either try RE 5 out for the first time or RE-buy it again will only have to pay $50 for the Gold Edition which comes with everything, the game and the new DLC.

Just what’s included in the DLC? I’m glad you asked. Quoting from an email I received from Capcom

We plan to release two new downloadable episodes, a host of new costumes, and a new “MERCENARIES REUNION” mode featuring 8 new playable characters and weapon load outs.

And a little bit more info from the blog on Capcom-Unity.com

Here’s the dates to start expecting the downloadable content. For the LOST IN NIGHTMARES episode and Costume Pack 1, 2/17/10 on 360, and 2/18/10 for PS3. Episode 2 (title TBA) and Costume Pack 2 will hit on 3/3/10 for 360, and 3/4/10 for PS3.

I’m not sure if the Costume packs and the “new characters” they’re talking about are the same thing in Mercenary mode but I’ll try to find out. So we’re getting not one, but two new episodes. We know that the first has to do with Chris and Jill reminiscing about the good old days inside the Spencer Estate, what the second could be is anyone’s guess. It’s safe to say, I’m a wee bit curious now and it we won’t have to wait too long to find out.

Update

Looks like Capcom wasn’t done releasing information. Below is some added news about the new costumes and “Mercenaries Reunion” mode.

Simultaneous with the release of “LOST IN NIGHTMARES”, new costumes for Chris and Sheva will be made available, allowing the player to experience RESIDENT EVIL 5 with a fresh new look and feel through both game play and cut-scene playback.   A new refresh of Mercenaries Mode, “ THE MERCENARIES REUNION”, gives players new playable characters and weapon load outs which provide players additional challenges as they aim to shoot down as many enemies as they can within a limited time.   Each piece of downloadable content will contain two new playable characters.   The GOLD EDITION will feature all eight.
Still no word on the DLC price or info about the second downloadable mission, but once we have it we’ll let you know.
