Today, Ubisoft has released a PC demo for Avatar, the video game version of director James Cameron’s 6-years in the making sci-fi masterpiece.  Fans itching to get their hands on the game can do so now here and here.

Are we rushing to these mirrors to download the demo? Not exactly.  While the movie has us holding our collective breath in hope of a true sci-fi masterpiece, it’s important to remember that this is a licensed game, folks.  The FAIL rate for licensed games usually hovers at about 90 percent, according to the Bureau of Statistics I Just Guestimated ®.

The full game will hit consoles and PCs on December 1st, for those who want to spoil the plot of the movie, which will air in theaters starting December 18.

  1. Vince Said,

Played it and liked it (not very innovative innovative, but beautiful and fun to play).

But I have to say that this post is one of the most unprofessional that I have seen for a long time.
When I read the title, I thought that you have a least played it, but it seems that chose a nice shortcut : movie licence so it sucks (no need to check). Furthermore it is said everywhere that the game story is different from the movie story (the action even takes place 2 years before the movie), so there won't be any spoil as you mention.

Judge on the facts pls, not on what you have seen on a crystal ball

Vince, thanks for the comments. I have to imagine Andrew wrote this as a tongue-in-cheek regarding movie licence = bad game. We haven't had a chance to check out the demo with all the incredible games that just came out, but we will be playing the full title for a potential review.

We appreciate your feedback on the actual gameplay and impressions, as well as the back story on the demo. You'll notice on the site a mixture of news, opinion and humor. Try some other posts, such as our reviews and you'll get a better taste of our style. ya appreciate the comment and info, Vince. The assumption on my part was off – but still I've never played a licensed game i thought was worth the 60 bucks. Could Avatar break that streak? I'm not sure. I surely am more excited about the movie than the game though.
