Batman DLC: different shades of meh

batmanDLC

Last week Eidos dropped some free downloadable content for Batman: Arkham Asylum – the Insane Night Map Pack.  We’ve just gotten around to playing the two challenge maps included in this pack and, trust me, we did it all for you.

You’ll remember in our review of B:AA we listed the challenge mode as forgettable, noting that the only thing multiplayer about this mode is the ability to view online leaderboards.  Has two new challenge maps changed our tune?

Nope.  While one of the maps introduces a tweaked challenge mode in which you are pitted against an unending wave of enemies, these modes are still simply not our cup of tea.  We can imagine it fun to pit your best score/time against your friend’s, but when playing this by oneself the player is provided little motivation to complete each map more than once.

The verdict for Batman: Arkham Asylum’s challenge mode remains unchanged – it’s just window dressing…on a freakin sweet window.  After all, it was announced yesterday that Eidos has sold 2.5 million units of the game.  Holy shit….Batman.
